With spring practices underway for college football programs around the country, Notre Dame’s depth chart is starting to take shape. Although the Fighting Irish will lose talent to the NFL Draft, head coach Brian Kelly should have the necessary pieces to contend again for the College Football Playoff.
The key component to success for Notre Dame will be the health of Ian Book. Following an impressive junior season under center, it’ll be interesting to see how his final year plays out in South Bend.
Notre Dame will also need its offensive line to continue its recent stretch of dominance. The current starting lineup in the trenches features two seniors and two juniors.
Unfortunately for the Fighting Irish, the program will lose one of its underclassmen on the offensive line.
According to Notre Dame insider Tyler James, Kelly told the media about Luke Jones’ plans to transfer.
Jones was the No. 4 recruit from the state of Arkansas in 2018, per 247Sports.

Rising sophomore Jarrett Patterson is expected to be the starter at center for the Fighting Irish. It also appears early enrollee Zeke Correll has surpassed Jones on the depth chart at center, which could be the reason behind his decision to transfer.
Perhaps Jones will consider heading to the Arkansas Razorbacks. They were on his list of suitors during his recruitment process, and his connection to the area might play a factor.
