Browns Fans Will Love What Drew Brees Said About Baker Mayfield

The Cleveland Browns did not play rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield in Week 1. The No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft is currently behind veteran Tyrod Taylor on the depth chart.

The Browns aren't rushing playing Mayfield, though he will likely be starting before the season ends. Clearly, they view him as their future starter at the position.

While Mayfield was the Heisman Trophy winner last year, the Browns took a risk in picking him No. 1 overall, partially due to his size. He's just about 6-feet tall, which is below the threshold for ideal height for a QB.

When it comes to short quarterbacks, there might be none better all-time than Drew Brees. Brees is only 6-foot, yet has had himself a Hall of Fame career and isn't slowing down at age 39.

Brees' Saints play Mayfield and the Browns this week, and the seasoned signal caller had some high praise for his fellow Texan in a conversation with the media today.

Well, those are pretty lofty words to live up to. Brees is obviously going to say positive things about Mayfield in that setting, so take things with a grain of salt.

However, if the former Oklahoma star is even half of the player Brees is, he should be a solid NFL quarterback.

The Browns and Saints will kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
