Byron Young is a four-star defensive end from Mississippi. He's down to 10 top schools, with heavy SEC representation.
Young stars at West Jones High School in Laurel, MS. He's the No. 10 player in the state for the class of 2019.
247Sports ranks him No. 179 overall in the class. He's the 14th-ranked strong-side defensive end.
9 of the 10 schools that cracked Byron Young's list are in the SEC.
Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and South Carolina are represented. Clemson is the only non-SEC school in the mix here.
Four recruiting experts have logged predictions for where Young will end up. All like local programs.
Two writers from OMSpirit.com, 247's site covering the Rebels, believe that Young will end up in Oxford. Those predictions both came back in early 2017.
The other two, from 247 Mississippi State site Gene's Page, have him going to the Bulldogs. Go figure.
The two Mississippi State predictions are both from January 2018, making them a bit more recent. However, it's hard to glean much from just four predictions, all for the schools that those specific writers cover.
That being said, thinks seem wide open for Young. We still have 11 months until National Signing Day 2019, and just under nine until the early signing period, so plenty can change here.
