The true freshman looks like he’ll do just fine replacing Dalvin Cook.
It typically takes a while for a true freshman to start making a serious impact on a college football team.
Cam Akers is not most players, apparently.
The five-star running back shined in Florida State’s spring game on Saturday. The No. 1 running back in the 2017 class totaled 87 rushing yards on 10 carries and added two receptions for 15 yards.
It was a very solid debut for the player looking to replace Dalvin Cook in the Seminoles’ backfield.

Jimbo Fisher was impressed, but added there are definitely things for him to work on moving forward.
“A couple of times, I thought he should have pressed the block. I thought he bounced a little bit and should have gotten more stout, but he’ll learn open-field running,” Fisher said. “I thought he caught the ball well when he had the chance.”
Florida State opens its season on Saturday, Sept. 2 against Alabama.
