The No. 2 ranked high school RB Cam Akers is all set to make his much anticipated college decision tonight.
Cam Akers, the nation's No. 2 RB and No. 4 overall recruit according to 247Sports Composite Rankings, is a man amongst boys. In this year's state championship, Akers was the common denominator in all seven of his team's touchdowns. He rushed for 217 yards and five touchdowns, and threw for 228 yards and two more touchdowns in the 49-35 win. It was a casual domination, a drop in the bucket of a high school career in which the Mississippi Gatorade player of the year tallied a whopping 71 rushing TDs and 78 passing TDs, along with over 5,000 yards rushing and over 8,000 through the air.
It's almost unfair to label him as just a running back. He's a do-it-all workhorse the likes of which we haven't seen before.
And, tonight, the 5-foot-11, 213-pound freak of nature from Clinton, Miss. will make his college decision.
Below is an announcement he tweeted a week ago to preface his college announcement tonight:
You'll notice there are just six hats for six schools in the video: Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama, FSU and Tennessee. You can bet the recruiters for those schools are a little bit nervous right now.
He announces at 8 p.m. E.T., and we'll be sure to update you with his decision the moment it happens.
