Cam Newton isn't the only quarterback in his family who won't be playing football this weekend. The star NFL quarterback's younger brother is also sitting out.

Caylin Newton, the younger brother of the Carolina Panthers quarterback, is reportedly looking to transfer out of Howard.

The Undefeated reported on Saturday night that the dual-threat quarterback skipped Saturday's loss to Bethune Cookman in order to preserve his redshirt status. Newton, the preseason Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference player of the year, has played in four games. If he plays in a fifth game this year, he burns his redshirt option.

Caylin Newton reportedly has two years of eligibility remaining and he's set to graduate in May.

“He hasn’t officially made up his mind yet,” the report states. “This has caught everyone by surprise. All we know is that he’s not playing this weekend.”

Caylin Newton could get major interest on the graduate transfer market.

The former three-star quarterback recruit had 3,133 yards of total offense and 26 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2018.
