CBS officially announced that longtime SEC play-by-play announcer Verne Lundquist will step down following the 2016 season, and the network confirmed reports that ESPN's Brad Nessler will be Lundquist's replacement in 2017.

Lundquist, who has been with CBS since 2000, will remain with the network and continue broadcasting college basketball and golf.

This will be an adjustment for college football fans. "Uncle Verne" is a fall staple as the play-by-play voice of the SEC. Nessler is a pro though, and should be a more than capable replacement.
