Week 11 of the 2019 college football season saw two massive results that will likely shape the rest of the year. LSU took down Alabama in Tuscaloosa and Minnesota knocked off Penn State.
Most polls were friendly to the Crimson Tide despite Nick Saban’s team losing a home game in a more lopsided fashion than the final score indicated. Meanwhile, Minnesota barely moved at all even though they took a commanding lead in the Big Ten West.
Heading into Week 12, CBS Sports has released their own ranking that contrasts pretty heavily with the AP and Coaches’ polls.
Here is the full CBS top 10 via Dennis Dodd:
- Ohio State
- Penn State
Easily the biggest surprise in the poll is seeing Minnesota all the way up to No. 4 in the ranking. The 9-0 Golden Gophers have huge games still to play against Iowa, Northwestern and Wisconsin. If they can win just two of those games, they’ll be in the Big Ten Championship Game.
As for Alabama, they dropped all the way to No. 7 – behind one-loss SEC rival Georgia and Penn State. It’s a pretty large fall for them that goes against what most polls and analytics have shown.
Meanwhile, Dodd decided to place one-loss Oregon and Utah ahead of undefeated Baylor. But the Bears will have a chance to prove they belong in the title discussion when they play Oklahoma this weekend.
