Florida Atlantic was one of the more fun teams in college football last season.

The Owls went 11-3, winning the Conference USA title and routing Akron 50-3 in the Boca Raton Bowl. FAU ranked in the top 10 nationally in rushing offense, scoring offense and total offense.

Did we mention Lane Kiffin's Twitter account and the endless entertainment it provided? Kiffin might be the biggest character in the sport.

Incredibly, things could get even better for FAU in 2018. Some experts feel they are a legitimate threat to be the Group of 5's representative in the New Year's Six.

CBS Sports' Tom Fornelli ranked the five best potential Cinderella teams in 2018. He put FAU at No. 1.

Fornelli even argued that the Owls could finish undefeated, despite opening the season at Oklahoma.

Honestly, would you be surprised if the Owls go undefeated in 2018? This is a team that just went 11-3 last season, including a 9-0 mark against C-USA teams. Plus, not only did the Owls go undefeated against conference opponents, but they won those games by an average of 17.9 points per game. That's not an insignificant margin!

The Owls will once again be the most talented team in the conference, and they also have two big "prove it" games against Oklahoma and UCF. Even if they lose to the Sooners, a win over UCF would go a long way toward seeing the Owls ranked ahead of the Knights or another possible AAC champion should they win out elsewhere.

Now, if you thought UCF was obnoxious with its national title claim, can you imagine Lane Kiffin if his team manages to do the same?

After opening up at Oklahoma, FAU will travel to UCF on Sept. 21. They also host Air Force on Sept. 8.

That's a heck of a tough first month. One or two losses wouldn't be anything to be ashamed of.

However, if the Owls survive September undefeated, an unblemished record isn't out of the question.
