CBS Sports Ranked The Top 25 Head Coaches In College Football

It is the middle of the college football off-season. You know what that means; it is peak time for coaching rankings.

Debating where a specific coach ranks among his peers is a favorite pastime for college football fanatics. CBS Sports' Tom Fornelli has given fans plenty of material to discuss with his newest rankings.

Fornelli ranked all 65 Power 5 head coaches in two separate installments. He did from 65-26 and then from 25 down to No. 1.

Here is Fornelli's top 10:

  1. Nick Saban - Alabama
  2. Urban Meyer - Ohio State
  3. Dabo Swinney - Clemson
  4. Jimbo Fisher - Texas A&M
  5. Chris Petersen - Washington
  6. Gary Patterson - TCU
  7. David Shaw - Stanford
  8. Kirby Smart - Georgia
  9. Chip Kelly - UCLA
  10. James Franklin - Penn State

You might be wondering where Jim Harbaugh is. He's at No. 18, down 13 spots from last year. Directly in front of him is a pair of Marks (Dantonio at 16, Richt at 17) .

Notre Dame's Brian Kelly (No. 26) won 10 games last year and has a BCS title appearance on his resume, but that wasn't enough to crack the top 25. Nebraska fans should be excited that Scott Frost is already at No. 21, ahead of Iowa's longtime coach Kirk Ferentz (No. 23).

You can read all of Fornelli's rankings here and here.

And remember, these rankings could look very different next year. That still won't stop a lot of fans from screaming about them though.
