Chase Cota, a four-star wide receiver out of Oregon, will make Notre Dame one of his official visits.
Cota dropped a top seven schools list back in June, featuring Alabama, Cal, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oregon, UCLA and USC.
Oregon, the local powerhouse, will be getting a visit. That isn't a huge surprise.
Notre Dame is the first school to lock in a date, however. Cota will be in South Bend next month when the Fighting Irish host Georgia, one of his other top teams.
"Notre Dame is locked for the Georgia game (September 9th) and I'm still figuring dates on others," said Cota.
Cota said he will visit Oregon unofficially in the fall for some games.
"I'll probably be going to an Oregon game or two because it's close and I have a cousin in the program (Brady Breeze) and my family watches games," said Cota, who's father, Chad, also played for the Ducks.
Oregon is currently considered the favorite to land Cota, the No. 104 player in the country per 247Sports. The site's crystal ball gives the Ducks an 86-percent chance to sign the legacy player. UCLA has the remaining votes. Notre Dame has a big opportunity to make an impression in September though.
On top of his top seven, Cota holds offers from Louisville, Nebraska, Oregon State, and others.
