USC head coach Lincoln Riley made headlines this week when he and the program elected to suspend media credentials for a reporter.

The reporter, Luca Evans of the Orange County Register, received the two-week suspension after publishing a story on running back Quinton Joyner.

The story referenced a conversation held between players, which violates USC's policy of no reporting on the team outside of media availability.

Reactions to the suspension have been divisive, with some feeling that Riley abused his power by placing a ban on a reporter simply trying to do their job.

At any rate, UCLA head coach Chip Kelly was asked about the situation, and he offered his opinion on his rival's actions.

“Can someone do that?," Kelly asked. "I’ve never heard of that before and I’m never one to comment on someone else’s policies. I didn’t even know you could do that — I don’t even think we have policies on that."

Kelly said that he and the rest of the UCLA staff aren't as clued in to what's being written about the team.

"I wouldn’t be able to tell you if I disagreed with something somebody wrote," Kelly said.

"I think maybe when I was younger, but now we like to preach that we’re the best prepared and the least distracted. Following things like that, I think you’re going down a rabbit hole.”

Kelly is nearly 20 years older than Riley, so it makes sense that he'd say he may be a little more sensitive to the press at a younger age.
