Citadel All-American DB Dee Delaney Is Transferring To Miami

The Hurricanes have added an elite defensive back to their team for 2017.

Dee Delaney, an All-American defensive back for Citadel, has announced a transfer to Miami.

The 6-foot-1, 193-pound DB announced his decision on Instagram.

"Well while one chapter in my book has ended another one is beginning. Deciding to come to The Citadel was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made and now deciding to leave is even harder. The friendships I have made here will last forever. The Citadel has made me into a better and much mature person and for that all I can say is Thank you! I will be transferring to the University of Miami to finish up my senior football season. Thanks for all the support and much love! C I T A D E L!!! C I T A D E L!!! Once a dawg always a dawg! " he wrote.

The defensive back led the Southern Conference in interceptions last season with six. He's considered to be an NFL prospect.

"I appreciate everything Dee Delaney has done representing The Citadel," Citadel head coach Brent Thompson said in a statement. "He is going to graduate in May and leaves here having played a vital role in back-to-back Southern Conference championships, which had never happened at this school before.

Delaney is on track to graduate this spring and thus will be eligible to play right away for the Hurricanes this fall. He has one season of eligibility remaining.
