Clay Travis "Believes" Jon Gruden Will Be Tennessee's Next Coach

Jon Gruden talks about the Tennessee coaching job while on ESPN.

Jon Gruden Tennessee

The Tennessee native has seen enough.

At least one college football fanatic is ready to make the prediction.

Clay Travis, a Tennessee native and a Fox Sports Radio host, is now convinced that Jon Gruden will be the next head coach at the University of the Tennessee.

"I really, honestly believe Jon Gruden is going to be the next head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. And today we got two big pieces of evidence that might happen," Travis writes.

Travis points to Gruden's interview on ESPN's Mike & Mike today and a story from the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

When asked about the coaching rumors, Gruden said the following:

“You know what Mike, I haven’t talked to anybody and all I really have in my life is my family and football, that’s it,” Gruden said. "I’m real sensitive to the coaches that are out there, so I don’t speculate. I just love football and I’m just trying to hang on to the job I have. I’m very fortunate to be with the people I’m with.

"I don’t know what's going to happen in the future, I just know this — I’m going to give my best effort to the game, stay prepared and I love Monday Night Football, don’t plan on leaving, but as you know in life, you never say never to nothing."

That's not a denial...

Gruden remains the betting favorite to land the job, but that's mostly because of how many bets the public is placing on him.

Others in the know in the college football world - like Yahoo! Sports' Peter Thamel and Football Scoop - remain convinced that there's basically no chance that Gruden will take the job.

We'll find out soon, probably.
