The top Tigers' assistant could be in play.

One of the best defensive coordinators in the country could reportedly be a candidate for the Arkansas head coaching position.

Clemson DC Brent Venables, who's long been due for a major head coaching job, is reportedly in play with the Razorbacks.

CBS Sports' Barrett Sallee reports that Venables and Memphis' Mike Norvell are emerging in the search.

Venables, 46, has been Clemson's defensive coordinator since 2012. He was previously an assistant at Oklahoma and Kansas State.

Washington State's Mike Leach is another big name being linked to the job.
