Radio host Colin Cowherd is out at ESPN. Thursday morning, The Big Lead reported that Cowherd, who has been with the network since 2003, would be leaving the Worldwide Leader, most likely for Fox Sports. Just moments ago, ESPN itself confirmed the report, wishing Cowherd the best moving forward. Per John Skipper:
“We’ve enjoyed a mutually beneficial run with Colin for over a decade. He came to national prominence on ESPN with his unique perspective on sports and society. Endings also bring new beginnings, for ESPN and Colin, and we thank him and wish him the best.”
According to TBL, ESPN made an "aggressive" bid to keep Cowherd in-house, but lost out to Fox. Cowherd joins Bill Simmons and Keith Olbermann as high-profile sports personalities who have recently left the network. It'll be interesting to see what kind of gig he winds up landing.
