College Football Fans Stunned By Desmond Howard's Pick Tonight
ESPN's "College GameDay" crew made their picks for tonight's showdown between Ohio State and Texas. It appears the most stunning pick came courtesy of Michigan legend Desmond Howard.
Despite not being very fond of Ohio State, Howard has the Buckeyes advancing to the national championship game. He just thinks there's too much talent on Ryan Day's roster. After all, he made jabs about the program having an expensive payroll on Thursday night. Those comments were immediately shut down by ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit.
"The perception is wrong with Ohio State," Herbstreit said. "The perception is they went out and found players. The reality is this is a veteran defense. You know what it's like having three and four-year guys that have been there forever. It's a hardened team."
While Howard may not have won his debate with Herbstreit on Thursday, he clearly turned heads with his pick for the Cotton Bowl. Countless fans rushed over to social media to talk about him siding with the Buckeyes over the Longhorns.
"Desmond Howard picking Ohio State..hell must be freezing over," one fan tweeted.
"I think it’s a reverse jinx. He’s gotta pull out all the stops," another fan joked.
"No way Desmond Howard picked Ohio state," a third fan said.
"Desmond Howard picked Ohio State. Kiss of death," an Ohio State fan wrote on X.

This has to be one of those rare situations where Howard wouldn't mind if his pick backfires on him.
Ohio State is the odds-on favorite to win the Cotton Bowl, but ESPN's computer model favors Texas. It'll be interesting to see which side comes out on top in what should be a high-scoring game.
The winner of tonight's showdown will take on Notre Dame in the national title game.
