College Football Fans Want Player Banned For 'Extremely Dirty' Move
College football fans are calling for a player to be "banned for life" for his dirty move during a bowl game on Friday afternoon.
Texas Tech faced off against Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl on Friday night. The Razorbacks topped the Red Raiders, 39-26, to finish the season with a victory. Arkansas ended the year at 7-6 on the season, while Texas Tech dropped to 8-5 on the year with the loss.
But it wasn't the game's result that had people talking on X, formerly known as Twitter. Instead, it was the "dirty" move by an Arkansas offensive lineman.
College football fans are calling for the Arkansas Razorbacks lineman to be "banned" for his dirty move.
During a stoppage in play, Razorbacks offensive lineman Fernando Carmona appeared to intentionally step on the ankle of Red Raiders safety CJ Baskerville. The incident happened just before the two minute warning in the fourth quarter.
Baskerville went to make a tackle on a Braylen Russell run with about 2:00 to play. There ended up being quite the pileup. As the two teams sorted through the pileup, Carmona appeared to intentionally step on Baskerville's ankle.
"There’s no denying that Arkansas played a great game last night, I am not taking that away from them. But #55 Fernando Carmona blatantly stepping on my ankle and pressing down on it on purpose is straight up dirty. Proceeds to say “got your b**** a***.” Do better," Baskerville wrote.
College football fans are demanding swift punishment.
"This should be his (55) last game ever. What a loser," one fan wrote.
"Fernando Carmona is number 55 on the Arkansas Razorbacks. He should be arrested immediately. He should be thrown off the team immediately and never be allowed to play college football again anywhere," one fan wrote.
"Wow. 55 will have a bounty on his head next year," one fan added.
"I hope every NFL scout and coach see this. What a terrible thing to do," one fan added.
Baskerville was one of Texas Tech's best defensive players in 2024. He totaled 78 tackles – three tackles for loss – and a career-high four interceptions.
It'll be interesting to see if the Arkansas offensive lineman faces any punishment for what he did.
