Tragic news struck the college football world on Monday as Georgia Southern freshman Jordan Wiggins has passed away. He was only 18 years old.
Wiggins joined the Georgia Southern Eagles this fall. He was the No. 224 offensive tackle and No. 345 recruit from Florida, per 247Sports.
Although the cause of Wiggins' death has not been released yet, the school did announce the unfortunate news.
Georgia Southern released its statement on Monday night.
"The Georgia Southern Athletics Department has received a report of the death of student-athlete Jordan Wiggins. Our thoughts are with the student’s family, friends and classmates.We will provide further information when it becomes available."

According to Wiggins' bio on the team's online roster, the 18-year-old offensive lineman was pursuing a major in Electrical Engineering.

Wiggins was part of a Georgia Southern team that is coming off back-to-back wins in its conference.
The Eagles are scheduled to face the New Mexico State Aggies at home this Saturday. Expect the program to honor him for the rest of the season.
