Following a terrific holiday weekend of college football, the latest college football rankings are in.
Eight ranked teams lost in Week 1, sparking major shuffle in this week’s rankings. Georgia knocked off Clemson in 10-3 defensive slug-fest. The Bulldogs climbed from No. 5 to 2 in Tuesday’s AP Top 25, as a result. Clemson, meanwhile, tumbled to sixth after a frustrating and disappointing opening weekend.
Alabama remains the No. 1 team in the nation following its dominant 44-13 win over Miami on Saturday. Ohio State is the new No. 3 team in the nation. Oklahoma fell one spot back to fourth after the Sooners’ underwhelming win over Tulane. Penn State saw the biggest climb of the week, going from No. 19 to 11 following the Nittany Lions’ statement win over Wisconsin, which fell from 12 to 18.

Looking ahead, the college football schedule is jam-packed with marquee games this weekend. Most notable, No. 3 Ohio State hosts No. 12 Oregon in Columbus.
Both teams began the season with underwhelming wins. The Buckeyes knocked off Minnesota 45-31 last Thursday while the Ducks escaped a gritty Fresno State team with a 31-24 victory. Ohio State hosts Oregon this Saturday at noon ET on FOX.
Elsewhere, No. 10 Iowa will take on No. 9 Iowa State in perhaps the biggest game in the rivalry’s history. The Hawkeyes ran Indiana off the field in a 34-6 win last Saturday. The Cyclones, meanwhile, barely escaped in a 16-10 battle against Northern Iowa.
Other notable games this coming weekend include No. 15 Texas at Arkansas, Washington at Michigan and Stanford at No. 14 USC.
