A high school football player and his cousin face serious charges connected to a 2018 murder in the Anneewakee Falls subdivision near Douglasville, Georgia.

According to a report from 11 Alive, the Douglas County Sheriff's department arrested Leandrea Morgan and Jalen Morgan on charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Here's more from 11 Alive on the story:

The indictments were in connection with the May 30 incident in which a man died after being found shot next to the subdivision's clubhouse, according to the Douglas County Sentinel.

Authorities initially arrested five people in connection to the crime and charged them on several counts, including felony murder.

Since then, more investigation has led authorities to arrest Jalen, a football player for Alexander High School, and his cousin Leandrea. This brings the total number of suspects in the investigation to seven.

Jalen and his cousin reportedly worked as lookouts during the attempted robbery when the shooting occurred.

The high school football star had offers from three FBS programs, but all of those offers are believed to have been rescinded in light of the events - Appalachian State, Ball State and Troy were all interested in signing the 2020 wide receiver.

The Morgans were denied bond on January 9.
