The “kiss cam” is already one of the cringiest traditions in sports. One college football team made the tradition as awful and awkward as it could be on Saturday.
The Memphis Tigers introduced a new version of the kiss cam on Saturday. Given the public health circumstances, a normal kiss cam is off the table. It would require fans to take off their masks to participate in the tradition.
The Tigers added a new wrinkle to the tradition this weekend, though. Instead of having fans take off their masks, Memphis introduced the “masked kiss cam.” It’s as awful as it sounds.
Unfortunately, plenty of couples took part in the new edition of the kiss cam. To make matters worse, we have the video to prove it. Check out Memphis’ “masked kiss cam” in the video below.

Let’s agree to never watch that again. Let’s also agree to never have a “masked kiss cam” ever again.
Kiss cams are already a strange tradition. Most fans don’t really want to participate in kissing a nearby fan and having it filmed for the rest of the crowd to see, let alone kissing with masks on.
We have a feeling this will be the last time the Tigers choose to utilize a masked kiss cam during one of their games this season. The least we can do is hope that’s the case.
