College GameDay Announces Blockbuster Guest For SEC Championship Game

ESPN will welcome a major celebrity for a special conference championship edition of College GameDay.

The seminal weekly show heads to Atlanta, the site of Saturday's SEC Championship Game between Texas and Georgia. ESPN announced a somewhat unexpected star to join the crew.

On Thursday night, College GameDay revealed that Timothée Chalamet is this Saturday's guest picker.

Unlike most selections, Chalamet doesn't appear directly tied to the location or either school. Chalamet was born in New York and dropped out of Columbia to pursue his acting career.

However, he did post the Minnesota Golden Gophers logo and a photo inside Huntington Bank Stadium on his Instagram Stories. They're not playing this weekend after a 7-5 season, so Chalamet must instead brush up on Oregon and Penn State before predicting the Big Ten Championship Game.

Chalamet has risen into one of Hollywood's biggest stars. He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his role in Call Me by Your Name and has recently starred in Wonka and the highly successful Dune series.

The 28-year-old portrayed Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, which has a Christmas release date. Chalamet will likely promote the biopic during his GameDay appearance.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Paul Atreides interacts with the likes of Nick Saban and Pat McAfee in Atlanta. Chalamet joins Michael Phelps, Paul Skenes, Justin Fields, and Scottie Scheffler among this year's guest pickers.

He'll choose sides in an epic SEC rematch between the No. 2 Longhorns and No. 5 Bulldogs. Georgia handed Texas its only loss earlier this season and secured a spot at Mercedes-Benz Stadium by outlasting Georgia Tech in eight overtimes last Friday night.

College GameDay starts Saturday at 9 a.m. ET on ESPN. The SEC Championship Game will air at 4 p.m. ET on ABC.
