Most college football fans watch College GameDay every Saturday morning, and many put a lot of stock into what the staff’s three experts – Desmond Howard, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit – pick for each week’s biggest games. But how good are they actually at picking those games?
We ran the numbers on what all three picked for the entire season. It might shock you to see that Kirk Herbstreit has the worst winning percentage of the group.
Lee Corso, famous for his weekly “headgear” pick, did the best this season, with just over a 67% winning percentage. Desmond Howard finished just ahead of Herbstreit.
Howard maybe could have challenged Corso if he didn’t pick Michigan to win every single week.
Lee Corso: 128-63 (67.02%)
Desmond Howard: 116-75 (60.73%)
Kirk Herbstreit: 106-73 (59.22%)
Herbstreit picks less games over the course of a season because he also calls a number of them. He doesn’t pick those games.
Of course, GameDay hasn’t aired its last episode of the season just yet. Perhaps there is hope for Herbstreit and Howard to catch Corso during bowl season.
College football fans – does this line up like you thought it would?
