College Quarterback Goes Viral For His 'Uncle Rico' Throwing Motion
College football is a sport played at many different levels by many different players. With hundreds of teams in action every week, you're almost always sure to see something you've never seen before.
That was the case for fans who tuned into Baylor's game against Long Island on Saturday. The Bears won the game 30-7, but one Long Island player became a star thanks to his unorthodox throwing motion.
Long Island quarterback Chris Howell dropped back to pass in the second quarter, then proceeded to wow the viewing audience and the commentators with a strange sidearm throw that was right on the money to his receiver.
Howell's unorthodox throw was compared to the "Uncle Rico" character from the 2004 comedy Napoleon Dynamite, as well as some famous MLB side-arm pitchers like Ubaldo Jimenez.
"He’s got the delivery of a lefty submarine relief pitcher," one fan said.
Another fan compared the unusual throwing motion to the shooting style of former NBA All-Star Shawn Marion.
Unfortunately for Howell and the Sharks, the highlights were few and far between on Saturday. The quarterback finished the game 4-for-10 for 41 yards and an interception as the team fell to 0-3 on the season.
Howell's throwing motion may not have been enough to get the win, but it was certainly enough to catch the attention of college football fans.
