A longtime college sportswriter is in critical condition following a serious car accident on Monday evening.

Terry Hutchens, a veteran sports journalist who covers the University of Indiana CNHI Sports Indiana, has been hospitalized in critical condition.

The sportswriter was reportedly involved in a three-car accident.

News & Tribune had more details on the tragic accident:

According to a report from the Fishers Police Department, the accident occurred at 7:11 p.m. on 116th Street at Interstate 69. The 2006 Toyota 4Runner driven by Hutchens struck the rear of a 2014 Ford Escape, pushing it into a 2009 Jeep Wrangler. All three cars were westbound, approaching the northbound ramp for I-69. The Escape and Wrangler were slowing or stopped in traffic when the accident occurred. Police did not provide an estimate of Hutchens' rate of speed. The responding police officer found Hutchens slumped over in his car. After not finding a pulse, the officer performed CPR on Hutchens before medical personnel arrived and transported Hutchens to Community Hospital North.

Our thoughts are with Terry and his family and friends.
