Ticket prices for the 2017 CFP national championship game between Alabama and Clemson are set to be the most expensive ever.
The Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers face off once again in the College Football Playoff championship, a rematch of last year's 45-40 contest in which the Crimson Tide reigned supreme. Clemson will be looking for some vengeance, while Alabama will look to become the first back-to-back champion since the playoff format was introduced in 2014.
Naturally, with all the hype surrounding the game, this one will potentially be the most expensive one ever.
Not only is demand for tickets up this year, but the proximity of Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla to the two schools makes it just accessible enough to Clemson and Alabama fans, further spiking the ticket prices. Both schools are roughly 600 miles away, and would only require an 8-9 hour drive, which isn't too bad. It's a much easier journey than last year, when the national championship took place in Glendale, AZ.
And due to that, ticket prices are skyrocketing. According to Vivid Seats, the median ticket price is $2,150, with the cheapest sitting at a cool $972. Not cheap!
The game kicks off at 8:00 p.m. E.T. on January 9 on ESPN. Alabama is a 6.5-point favorite.
