The media world took another hit on Wednesday morning with the announcement that Cox Media Group has decided to shut down a few significant sites. This news comes from multiple writers from SEC Country, Land of 10, and several other sites.

Cox Media Group will reportedly shut down its sports verticals by the end of June.

It's been a tough year and a half for sports media, from ESPN's massive layoffs in 2017 to the potential sale of Sports Illustrated that will likely cost the company jobs.

Here's the news from various SEC Country and Land of 10 writers.

According to one Cox Media employee, this news had nothing to do with how successful the verticals were, though that seems hard to understand at this point in time.

Many talented writers will be looking for work in the coming months. Hopefully they all find a new home quickly.
