Demetris Robertson, the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2016 class, took to Twitter this morning to announce some surprising news. He's decided to transfer out of California's program.

The former five-star recruit surprised many when he decided to commit to Cal back in 2016. He totaled 837 yards and 7 touchdowns through two seasons with the team.

Robertson announced his transfer decision with a statement on Twitter.

"Due to personal matters, I've decided not to continue my education and football career at UC Berkeley. I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, staff, student body, and so many others for their ongoing support and consideration of my personal matters," he wrote.
