Don't Be Surprised If Georgia Is Ranked No. 1 Tonight

The Bulldogs very well could be ranked No. 1 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings.
Alabama has been ranked No. 1 in the top 25 polls all season. Another top 25 poll - the College Football Playoff selection committee's rankings - is set to come out tonight.
The Crimson Tide might not be No. 1 in this one.
Nick Saban's team certainly has an argument for the top spot, as it's dominated its schedule in impressive fashion, but the selection committee has made a big point about marquee wins in recent years. Alabama doesn't really have any of those.
Georgia does.
The undefeated Bulldogs could very well be ranked No. 1 in tonight's initial College Football Playoff selection committee rankings. Georgia has the most-impressive win of the season with its road victory at Notre Dame and has another win over a top 25 team in No. 21 Mississippi State. Alabama, meanwhile, has zero wins against ranked opponents.
So when tonight's rankings come out, don't be surprised if you see:
- Georgia
- Alabama
It will be a major surprise if someone else is ranked inside the top two.
The top 25 is set to be unveiled at 7 p.m. E.T. on ESPN.
