Eli Manning Reveals Thoughts On Arch Manning's Shaky Spring Game Performance
The college football world got its first look at Texas freshman quarterback Arch Manning in the team's spring game earlier this year.
He didn't exactly light the world on fire in that game, completing five of his 13 pass attempts for 30 yards.
After the game, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said that Quinn Ewers was the team's starting quarterback - an expected move, but some thought Manning would earn some consideration as such a highly touted recruit.
Manning's uncle, former Giants quarterback Eli, says he isn't worried about how things will eventually go for his nephew.
"For me, I don’t remember many of my spring games," said Eli, who was a star at Ole Miss in his college career.
“I don’t remember many of my preseason games. Spring games, you can’t look too much into it.”
Eli says that the process of getting better is the most important thing for Arch to focus on at this stage in his career, and he believes his nephew has what it takes to eventually become a great quarterback.
“I know, for him, it’s about getting in there. Getting into practices, getting in the weight room, learning the playbook," Eli said at the Manning Passing Academy.
“He was still a senior in high school when he went through that spring game. He’s got a lot to learn. But every rep’s important, every practice is important and he’ll just continue to get better and more comfortable.”
