Legendary Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith has reacted to his former teammate, Deion Sanders, landing a college football coaching gig.
Sanders, who starred at cornerback for the Cowboys, has accepted the head coaching position at Jackson State.
“It’s very big for Jackson State University,” athletic director Ashley Robinson said. “Not only for Jackson State University, this is very big for the country right now. Very big for the state of Mississippi. To Coach Prime, Jackson State University — a blue blood program full of Hall of Famers — it’s just a great time.”
Smith is excited to see Sanders coach at the college level. He sent him a congratulatory message on social media.
"Congrats are in order for my brother and friend, @DeionSanders! You’ve worked hard to get to this point and I’m proud to see the work pay off. If you need a RB coach with some NFL experience... I know a guy!" he tweeted.
It would be pretty awesome to see Smith on Sanders' coaching staff, but we're guessing that won't happen.
Still, Sanders will probably build a great staff at Jackson State, which is scheduled to play its season beginning this winter.
