The ESPN analyst thinks the Vols should look to the Mississippi State head coach.

ESPN college football writer Adam Rittenberg has named his choice for the Tennessee head coaching opening.

It's Dan Mullen.

The Mississippi State head coach "makes the most sense" for the Volunteers, who need a proven winner at the Power 5 level, especially someone who can develop quarterbacks.

Mullen checks those boxes.

"To me, Dan Mullen makes the most sense for this job, understanding the SEC and also (having) the ability to take over that offense and make improvement right away," Rittenberg said.

Rittenberg also named Virginia Tech's Justin Fuente and Memphis' Mike Norvell as potential candidates, while noting that Chip Kelly and Jon Gruden will be talked about, but are probably longshots.
