For the second weekend in a row, ESPN's College GameDay is going outside the Power 5. This Saturday, the show will head to an AAC showdown.

This afternoon, ESPN announced that GameDay will travel to Memphis for No. 15 SMU against the 24th-ranked Tigers. This game is a battle for first place in the American West.

GameDay was off the beaten path this past weekend as well, traveling to the Dakota Marker Game between North Dakota State and South Dakota State.

This will be the iconic pregame show's first trip to Bluff City.

Usually, GameDay announces its destination for the following weekend on Saturday night, Sunday morning the latest. But this was a special situation.

The Power 5 slate in Week 10 is devoid of major matchups, save for Florida vs. Georgia. With SEC Nation, the SEC Network's version of GameDay, already set to cover that game in Jacksonville, it made sense for GameDay to look elsewhere.

We're all for smaller schools getting some shine, and Memphis and SMU have been two of the Group of Five's biggest surprises this season.
