ESPN Expert Thinks Minnesota Could Start 7-0

The Golden Gophers could be a surprise team in the Big Ten.

Minnesota enters the 2017 college football season unranked with little hype.

The Golden Gophers could be getting a lot of attention come late October, though.

ESPN college football expert Phil Steele thinks Minnesota could "very well" start the season 7-0.

"I favor Minnesota in every game but Oregon State (pick 'em) in that opening stretch," he says in ESPN's college football preview magazine. "If they do, the Gophers, led by seven returning offensive starters and one of the Big Ten's best D-linemen in Steven Richardson, could host Wisconsin for the West title in Week 13."
