ESPN aired a couple of major college football games on Friday night. The Worldwide Leader aired the contest between UCF and FAU and, later in the evening, the USC-Washington State contest.
An embarrassing mistake was made during that first game.
The Worldwide Leader made a tough graphics mistake during that FAU-UCF game, accidentally crowning the wrong team the rightful national champion.
ESPN said that Alabama's College Football Playoff National Championship was considered the "claimed" national title, while UCF's undefeated season that ended with a Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl win was the College Football Playoff title.
UCF fans have been arguing all offseason about their "national championship," so maybe ESPN just got tired of that and decided to give it to them, even if it was at Alabama's expense.
