ESPN Names Alabama The SEC’s No. 1 Team Heading Into The Preseason

It is no surprise who ESPN says the top team in the SEC is.

We're not that far away from the 2017 college football season. The SEC should be as strong as usual this fall, with a perennial power leading the charge.

ESPN’s post-spring too-early conference power rankings are out, and Alabama is No. 1, as expected. Below is what the Worldwide Leader had to say about 'Bama:

Nick Saban's No. 1 goal of the spring was to improve the downfield passing game. Not only did he get the result of Jalen Hurts throwing for 300 yards during A-Day, but so did true freshman Tua Tagovailoa. The secondary needs to get its act together, but the pieces are there for yet another top defense.

The full 1-to-14 rankings for the SEC can be found here. The top five squads are listed below, and there was a slight shakeup at No. 3, where Florida has pulled even with LSU.

1. Alabama

2. Auburn

3 (tie). Florida

3 (tie). LSU

5. Georgia

We can’t wait for the season to start.
