ESPN’s college football writers have updated their Heisman Trophy poll following the full slate of Rivalry Week games that took place last weekend.
LSU quarterback Joe Burrow continues to lead the race, but does the Ohio State transfer have the trophy locked up heading into conference championship game weekend?
ESPN’s poll suggests that he might.
Burrow has received all but one of ESPN’s first-place votes in the latest Heisman Trophy ballot. The other first-place vote went to Ohio State defensive lineman Chase Young.
Here’s the latest poll:
- LSU QB Joe Burrow
- Ohio State QB Justin Fields
- Ohio State DE Chase Young
- Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts
- Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor
Burrow would likely need to have a disastrous performance against Georgia in the SEC Championship Game in order to potentially give up the trophy. Fields or Young would likely need a historic performance in their game, too.
The Heisman Trophy will be given out in New York on Saturday, Dec. 14.
