The college football season still sits over four months away. Over the weekend, several big name programs participated in their respective spring games – which left college football fans searching for more.
Heading into the 2019 campaign, ESPN’s FPI took at look at the easiest schedules in the game. Before the 2018 season, Wisconsin emerged as the team with the easiest schedule.
Now, a team in the ACC holds the easiest schedule in college football.
The Virginia Tech Hokies face the easiest schedule among Power 5 programs, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index.
Virginia Tech misses the major competition from the ACC Atlantic – avoiding Clemson, Florida State and Syracuse.
Check out the Hokies 2018 schedule:
Virginia Tech @ Boston College – August 31
Virginia Tech vs. Old Dominion – September 7
Virginia Tech vs. Furman – September 14
Virginia Tech vs. Duke – September 27
Virginia Tech @ Miami – October 5
Virginia Tech vs. Rhode Island – October 12
Virginia Tech vs. UNC – October 19
Virginia Tech @ Notre Dame – November 2
Virginia Tech vs. Wake Forest – November 9
Virginia Tech @ Georgia Tech – November 16
Virginia Tech vs. Pitt – November 23
Virginia Tech @ Virginia – November 29
The Hokies non-conference schedule leaves much to be desired. Old Dominion, Furman and Rhode Island aren’t exactly top competition.
However, college programs are placing an emphasis on winning, rather than paying attention to strength of schedule.
