ESPN's Chris Fallica: FSU's Derwin James Is A Dark-Horse Heisman Candidate

A split screen of ESPN's College GameDay.

The analyst thinks this defensive player has a shot to win it.

ESPN's College GameDay panel gave their early picks for the 2017 Heisman Trophy during their season preview show on Saturday.

Kirk Herbstreit went with Sam Darnold, Lee Corso went with Mason Rudolph and Desmond Howard went with Saquon Barkley.

Chris "The Bear" Fallica went with...Derwin James?

Kind of.

The betting guru mentioned the Florida State safety as a possible dark-horse candidate.

His reasoning: Since 2009, only one player has started the season with 25-1 or better Heisman odds and gone on to win the award (Marcus Mariota).

So, you should be looking far down the Heisman Trophy odds list for your pick.

He settled with the Seminoles' safety.
