The Irish have been on a roll.
Since losing to Georgia on Sept. 9 and falling to 1-1 on the season, Notre Dame ripped off six straight wins. The Fighting Irish have beaten USC and NC State, both top-15 teams at the time, by 35 and 21 points respectively the last two weeks.
All of this has people speculating that Notre Dame could find its way into the top four of tonight's initial College Football Playoff rankings release. Alabama and Georgia will be 1-2 in some order, and then things get interesting. Where does Ohio State fit in? How about Clemson? Does Notre Dame make it? Oklahoma?
ESPN's Rece Davis appears particularly bullish on the Irish. He says not only should Notre Dame be in the foursome tonight, but should be ranked in the top-3.
Notre Dame has put a good resume on paper thus far.
Now it is up to the committee to say whether or not it is enough as of now.
