Three months ago, Blake Barnett announced his decision to transfer for the second time in his collegiate career. Barnett kicked off his college career at Alabama, but it didn't last long.
He started the 2016 season at Alabama as the team's starter, but was quickly replaced by Jalen Hurts. He then transferred to Arizona State, but couldn't win the starting job for the Sun Devils.
The former five-star quarterback recruit then transferred to South Florida this spring. Since then, he's done enough to become the team's starting quarterback.
He'll be the first starting quarterback for the Bulls since November 2014 when Quinton Flowers took over the job.
Barnett was the No. 2 pro-style QB recruit coming out of high school. He started for the Crimson Tide in 2016, but that didn't last long. He'll get the opportunity to start once again in just over a week.
South Florida opens its 2018 season on Sept. 1 against ELON.
