Report: Former Florida QB Treon Harris Likely To Be Named Starter At Tennessee State

Treon Harris is a starting quarterback once again.

Former Gator starting quarterback Treon Harris found his way to the top of the depth chart at Tennessee State. Harris is expected to be named the starter after O'Shay Ackerman-Carter was granted a release from his scholarship.

According to The Tennessean, Ackerman-Carter suffered season-ending injuries the past two years and intends to transfer closer to home.

Although it's not great news for Ackerman-Carter, Treon Harris stands to gain tremendously. Harris, who has two years of eligibility left, is in line to take over the starting spot.

Here's Haris' reaction to the news, courtesy of The Tennessean.

“I still have to work in order to get better for me and the team,” Harris said when asked about Ackerman-Carter’s decision to transfer. “I’ve still got plenty to prove. And we’ve still got competition at the position with (Hughes).”

Harris chose to play for Tennessee State where he could compete for a starting role, and it looks like the move paid off.
