A former Oregon football player was found dead on Friday after a single-vehicle car accident near the Ducks' stadium. Former Oregon linebacker Fotu Leiato was found dead hours after the accident, according to a report from KEZI ABC News.

According to the report, Leiato's body was discovered by a passerby nearly five hours after the initial accident.

The incident occurred near Autzen Stadium

From the report:

Investigators say Leiato's body was discovered by a passerby several hours after the crash scene had been cleared. The driver of the vehicle, Pedro Chavarin Jr., 22, told police he was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

Chavarin was taken to the hospital, then cited for DUII.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. near Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard and Kinsrow Avenue.

According to police, a woman was walking in the area at 6:51 a.m. when she saw a hand, leading to the discovery of Leiato's body.

Leiato was dismissed from the Oregon football program in late May after two arrests earlier in the year.

In January, he was hit with a misdemeanor trespassing charge. And then in April, he was arrested again just days after Oregon's spring game.

He was booked on charges of theft and criminal mischief, as well as a separate failure to appear charge.

He was just 21 years old.
