Tom Herman is the hottest coaching candidate in college football. He's not the coach Fox Sports' Joel Klatt would hire, though.

Joel Klatt, a college football analyst for Fox Sports, appeared on Colin Cowherd's The Herd this afternoon. During his appearance, he said he'd hire another current Ohio State assistant over Houston's Tom Herman.

"I'd take (Ohio State defensive coordinator) Greg Schiano over Tom Herman," Klatt said. "I'd take him over (Notre Dame head coach) Brian Kelly."

Klatt expounded on his reasoning, saying Schiano's success at Rutgers makes him more of an intriguing candidate than Herman, who's had success at Houston but not for very long. "He's had success for like 32 seconds," Klatt joked.

And as far as Schiano > Kelly goes, Klatt said he doesn't like how the Fighting Irish head coach treats his players. "Brian Kelly blames his players," Klatt said. "I'm a players guy." Kelly is believed to be somewhat on the hot seat after Notre Dame's brutal start.

Schiano, 50, went a very respectable 68-67 during his time as Rutgers' head coach. He's certainly a decent head coach candidate this offseason. And if Urban Meyer's history means anything, he'll probably go on to be very successful in his next gig.

But if you're, say, Texas, would you even consider hiring Schiano over Herman? Highly doubtful.
