There are certain moments in sports which mean so much more than the game itself.
On Monday, Aug. 19, Wendy Anderson — the wife of Arkansas State head coach Blake Anderson — passed away after a two-year battle with breast cancer.
Blake released a statement the following day.
“There a celebration in heaven today cause Wendy’s home,” he wrote.

Wendy’s death sparked support from fans, players and coaches across the country. The support continues to this day.
Arkansas State plays at Georgia this Saturday. Georgia fans are planning a way to honor Wendy at the game.
Dawgs’ fans are encouraging everyone to wear pink for Wendy. In fact, the hashtag they are using is #WearPinkForWendy.
“Bulldog Nation, help us get the word out. Wendy Anderson, the wife of Arkansas State head coach Blake Anderson, passed away on August 19 after a two year battle with breast cancer. We want to show Coach Anderson that, regardless of the score on Saturday, he and his family are in our thought and prayers. If you’re headed to Sandford Stadium on Saturday, please consider wearing at least a little pink, in honor of Wendy Anderson. #WearPinkForWendy #NotFightingAlone.”

It’s moments like this that sports matter a whole lot less. But using sports as an avenue to honor Wendy and support Blake is special.
Georgia’s game versus Arkansas State will be one to remember, specifically for reasons off-the-field.
