It was not a good first half for Ohio State.
The Buckeyes enter halftime of the Fiesta Bowl down, 17-0, to Clemson.
It's been a long time since OSU went scoreless in a half. So long, in fact, that it hadn't happened since the year before Urban Meyer took over.
Ohio State was last held scoreless in the first half on Oct. 1, 2011, when the Buckeyes fell to Michigan State, 10-7. OSU trailed, 7-0, at halftime of that contest.
The Buckeyes were then led by a true freshman Braxton Miller, who struggled on a cold and rainy day against the Spartans' defense.
Ohio State then-interim head coach Luke Fickell said this about Miller's performance that day.
"Things were happening fast for him," Fickell told reporters. "He just maybe didn't see the field real well. We thought we were going to have to throw the football, as many people as they were putting in there (on the line to stop the run) and as much heat as they were bringing. We thought our best option was to go with a guy that probably could see the field a little bit better and throw the football a little bit better."
Ohio State and Clemson are about to start the second half on ESPN.
