The Oakland A's and Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray have reportedly come to an agreement after the college football player was taken with the No. 9 overall pick in this year's MLB Draft.
Murray, a junior QB, will be playing one more season of college football. He'll suit up for the Sooners this fall before heading off to the minor leagues in 2019.
The former five-star recruit is going to be a very rich student athlete.
Oakland is guaranteeing the star college football quarterback close to $5 million to sign with the A's.
MLB insider Jon Heyman first reported the news.
"Kyler Murray and the A's have a deal that guarantees him close to $5M and allows him to play football (he's a QB and could be Baker Mayfield's replacement) at Oklahoma for 1 year," he reported.
Good for Kyler. He should have one hell of a fall semester.
Oklahoma is set to open its 2018 season on Sept. 1 against FAU.
