Hue Jackson has been out of coaching for almost a year. The Cleveland Browns fired him midway through the 2018 regular season. Jackson joined the Cincinnati Bengals’ staff in an unspecified role later that season, but he did not return in 2019.
The longtime NFL coach could reportedly be joining the college ranks.
The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman is reporting that Jackson has “emerged” as a “strong candidate” for a job with Herm Edwards at Arizona State.
The Sun Devils have an offensive coordinator vacancy. Jackson previously coached at Arizona State in the 1990s.

Edwards already has former Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis on his staff in a “special advisor” role. It’d be pretty cool for Jackson, who coached under Lewis in Cincinnati, to join him in Tempe.
Jackson started his coaching career at the college level. He was an assistant at Pacific for three seasons before taking a job at Cal State Fullerton. Jackson then coached at Arizona State, Cal and USC before jumping to the NFL level.
Arizona State went 7-5 this season, Edwards’ second at the helm of the program.
