A college football head coach has been fired, according to a report.

Football Scoop is reporting that Idaho State head coach Mike Kramer is being let go.

The 61-year-old head coach had been the program's coach since 2011.

This seems a little odd, considering the coaching carousel typically ends shortly after the season. You would think Idaho State would be forced to promote an assistant to the head coach position for at least a season before hiring someone else.

Football Scoop reports that most of the coaching staff is expected to be retained.

With Spring ball set to begin in just over a week, on April 6th, a source tells FootballScoop it is likely much of the staff will be retained. Will update…

Kramer had been Idaho State's head coach for six seasons, compiling an 18-50 record and a 10-38 mark in the Big Sky conference.

Previously, he was the head coach at Montana State from 2000-06 and at Eastern Washington from 1994-99.
